Blue Skies + Day Dreaming

pillow

I couldn't wait to share this post! A) Because it's an outfit post and I've become quite fond of doing them. B) Because I wanted to share with you the latest thing that I've made!

I made the dress and the belt! But I have a tiny confession, I made the dress out of a pillowcase! That's right! Easiest dress ever made. I kept seeing so many little girls run around in adorable pillowcase dresses and I thought to myself, I could make a "grown up" version for me! So now, if you don't mind, I'm going to bombard you with pictures!

I didn't want it to look like I was wearing a pillowcase. So to give it a little bit of form, I made this belt to tie around my waist. The belt was another simple thing that consist of ribbon and fabric squares that I hand sewed on. Super simple but along with the lacey trim that I put on the bottom I really think it just pulled it all together for a polished look!

It reminds me of a dress that you would wear to a wedding. What do you think? I hope all of you are having a great week! Enjoy the blue skies and keep on day dreaming.

BlackBird Photography

A few days ago, Ryan and Jessica of BlackBird Photography started talking to me about an idea they were having for and Indian/Hippie photoshoot. Of course I was just ecstatic about the thought of them doing anything like that because I know how talented they are and I could only imagine how amazing the pictures would turn out. I was so flattered when they asked me to make them a headband that they could use for the shoot! So, without further ado, here are some of the pictures that I am in absolute love with!

I couldn't be happier for them for the way this shoot turned out! I feel so privileged to say I was a tiny part in the styling process! I hope to help them out in any way possible in the future and I know nothing but breathtaking pictures will come from them!

Hello Dearie

hellodearie

I've been doing a lot of talking about my sewing teacher, Dawn, so I thought that I would take a moment to introduce her to you all! Above is a picture of Dawn and her sweet family. You can learn more about her daily life on her blog (which I highly recommend you do!) Along with her being such an amazing person from the inside-out, she is super talented! About a year ago, her and her mother-in-law, Cyndi, started their business Hello Dearie (talk about an amazing relationship to have with you mother-in-law!) Here are a few items that I absolutely love from their Etsy shoppe.

pillows

I think my favorite thing from Hello Dearie are the custom silhouette pillows. How amazing are they? They would be such a great gift to give to a newly wed couple.

cat

The yellow pillow bunny and mini cat doll's are so precious! Don't you just want a hundred of them?

pillow covers

Lastly, my favorite thing from Hello Dearie are their new pillow covers! They're pretty great don't you think?

Check out their Etsy shoppe for more amazingly cute things and please stop by her blog! I promise you'll fall in love!

Sailor, Ahoy!

ground

Eee! I'm so excited to share another outfit post with you! This outfit is rather special to me because...... I made the skirt! That's right! I present to you *drum roll* my "sailor" skirt!

skirt

stripes

anchors

Nautical themed items are always at the top of my list of things I love, but summer time is definitely my favorite time of the year to wear the ocean inspired look. Since summer notoriously goes hand-in-hand with going to the beach or lake, nautical themed clothing are naturally the thing to be inspired by in the summer, right?

button

Probably my favorite thing about my skirt are these vintage buttons. They're so perfect! I'm so thankful to be in Dawn's sewing class, I'm learning SEW much! I definitely could not have made this without her! Speaking of Dawn...you should drop by Hello Dearie and see if you were the winner of my crocheted flower headband giveaway!
